Cannabis dealer jailed after police uncover drugs worth almost £5,000

A cannabis dealer has been jailed after neighbourhood officers uncovered almost £5,000 worth of drugs at a property in Fowlmere.

Officers from the Neighbourhood Support Team carried out a warrant at an address in Shaw Close, on 18 August, following information about suspected drug dealing.

During the search, they discovered almost half a kilogram of cannabis with an estimated street value of £4,960, along with mobile phones and drug paraphernalia.

Pearl Naidoo, 28, of no fixed address, was arrested and later charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis.

At Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday (17 September), Naidoo was sentenced to 16 months in prison after pleading guilty to the offence.

Detective Constable Steven Day, from the force’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), who led the investigation, said: “Drug dealing has a harmful impact on our communities and is often linked to wider criminality and exploitation. Thanks to information received from the public and the proactive work of neighbourhood officers, we were able to recover a significant quantity of cannabis and bring Naidoo before the courts.

"We know drug dealing remains a concern for many residents and we are committed to taking action against those involved. I would encourage anyone who has information about suspected drug activity in their area to report it to us. The information you provide can make a real difference and helps us target those causing harm in our communities."
