A man who stole items with a combined worth of thousands of pounds from shops across Cambridgeshire has been jailed.
Giorgi Letodiani, 28, started by stealing health and beauty products worth £400 from Tesco, in Cambridge Road, Milton, Cambridge, on 11 October.
Four days later, he targeted another branch of Tesco, again stealing health and beauty products worth about £400.
Letodiani then turned his attention to Huntingdon, stealing more health and beauty products from Tesco, in Sapley, at about 5.45pm on 29 October.
After leaving Huntingdon he went to Tesco in Wisbech, where he stole various items including paint, toothbrush heads and Nicorette spray worth more than £2,000.
He was stopped by security as he left the store, dropped the bags of stolen goods, and left the area.
Letodiani completed his tour of the county by going to Sainsbury’s, in Oxney Road, Peterborough, on 19 December, where he stole toothbrush heads and razors worth about £720.
He was prevented from leaving by a security guard, police were called and he was arrested.
On Tuesday, 12 May, at Cambridge Crown Court, Letodiani, of Kensington Drive, Woodford Green, Essex, was jailed for 17 months, having admitted five counts of theft from a shop.
PC Eric Nimakoh said: “Letodiani was clearly travelling around the county targeting high value items to steal in a bid to sell them on.
“I’m pleased he was apprehended by the security guard, arrested and has now answered for his crimes.
“We will continue to work with retailers as we aim to combat theft and other offences they are subjected to, such as threatening behaviour and even violence.”
