A drug dealer who kept photos of himself on a phone he used to supply cocaine and cannabis in Peterborough has been jailed.
Aqib Khan, 31, was seen driving a blue Volkswagen Golf suspiciously in the city centre by officers on patrol on 17 February last year.
They tried to stop the car, but Khan made a sharp turn into Bright Street before making his way to Waitrose, in Mayors Walk.
Khan then entered the shop, while officers searched the car, finding three plastic bags containing smaller packets of cannabis ready to sell.
They also found three wraps of cocaine, £265 in cash and a mobile phone.
Analysis of the phone revealed photos of Khan, his family and messages linking him to the supply of drugs.
Khan was arrested and released while an investigation continued.
Then on 18 January he was a passenger in a black Nissan Qashqai that was stopped by police in St Johns Street, Boongate, Peterborough.
Khan was in the passenger seat with two mobile phones in his lap.
When the vehicle and driver were searched officers also found a large quantity of cash, cannabis and a small amount of cocaine.
Khan, of Ash Fold, Bradford, admitted possession with intent to supply cannabis and counts of being concerned in the supply of cannabis and cocaine.
On Friday (12 June) at Cambridge Crown Court he was jailed for three years and nine months.
Det Sgt Sam Moorby said: “Khan clearly didn’t learn his lesson after being arrested the first time and continued to offend whilst on bail.
“There was some compelling evidence that left him little choice but to plead guilty. I’m pleased he has now appeared in court and been jailed for his crimes.”
DC Elouise Hicks, who also led one of the cases, said: “Drug dealing contributes to anti-social behaviour and other criminality in our communities. Combatting it is a key priority for us.
“We will continue our efforts to identify drug dealers and bring them before the courts to face justice for their actions.”
