A man who stole meat worth hundreds of pounds from a Peterborough supermarket has been jailed.
Abid Hussain, 41, went to the branch of Aldi in Flaxlands, Bretton, five times between 1 and 10 February.
Each time, Hussain went to the meat aisle, sometimes with accomplices, filled a shopping basket with various items and left via the fire exit without paying. The total value of the stolen meat was nearly £900.
On 17 February Hussain went to OneStop in St Pauls Road, New England, where he stole meat worth £96.50, before returning the following day to take multiple bottles of washing up liquid without paying.
Hussain, of Eaglesthorpe, New England, Peterborough, admitted seven counts of theft from a shop.
On Thursday (19 February) at Huntingdon Magistrates' Court he was jailed for 16 weeks.
PC Poppy Halstead said: “Hussain brazenly and persistently targeted the same supermarket, stealing a vast amount of stock.
“We continue to work with retailers to combat thefts and bring perpetrators before the courts wherever possible.”
