Drug dealer caught red-handed by officers on patrol

A drug dealer who was caught red-handed by officers on patrol in Peterborough at the weekend has been jailed.

The response officers spotted Ahmed Hussein, 33, conduct what they suspected was a drug deal in Stanley Recreation Ground at about 12.30am on Saturday (1 August).

Hussein ran off with a bag, but the officers gave chase and he was soon arrested.

When the officers stopped him, he said “there’s a surprise in the bag”, before a search revealed eight individual deal packs of cannabis, seven of cannabis resin, more than £150 cash, digital scales and two mobile phones.

On Monday (3 August) at Peterborough Magistrates Court, Hussein, of no known address, was jailed for nine months after admitting possession with intent to supply cannabis.

DC Igor Simonov said: “This was an excellent spot by the officers on patrol.

“It was clear what Hussein was up to and the fact he ran only confirmed their suspicions.

“I’m pleased he has appeared in court so quickly and been jailed for his actions.”
