#CambsPostathon2025

In honour of #ControlRoomWeek, we are holding a 'Postathon' to demonstrate the reality of the demand the force faces.

We will update this webpage, as well as our Facebook and Instagram accounts, every 30 minutes summarising every incident that has been phoned in on 999 in during the previous half an hour.

Tune in between 4pm and 10pm on 31 October. 

It is hoped that this Postathon will provide an insight into the volume, variety and complexity of calls and incidents that staff must be equipped to deal with.

7.21pm - Hoax call from Soham - the caller said he and his Mum were kidnapped last week. Asked handler for name.  

7.22pm - Reports of an RTC that has just occurred, where the driver of one vehicle has run off

7.23pm - Caller reporting that a large tree has just fallen into the road in Wansford, blocking two lanes

7.27pm - Online reports of motorbikes being driven anti-socially in Dogsthorpe, Peterborough  

7.30pm - Report of 20-30 youths fighting in March

7.33pm - Call from a woman in Peterborough reporting her son missing as she wants to go to bed. Explained she can’t report him missing just because she wants to go to bed.  

7.34 - Call about a lorry crashing into a lamppost in Soham. 

7.34pm - Silent 999 call. Sounded like the caller was running. Going to call them back

7.36pm - Broken down vehicle in live lane between Cambridge and Newmarket

7.37pm - Caller reporting a possible drink driver on the A10

7.38pm - A 999 call reporting a group of youths are throwing fireworks near Queensgate Bus Station in Peterborough. A firework almost hit the caller’s relative. 

7.38pm - Another caller reporting a possible drink driver near Littleport

7.39pm - Another silent 999 call. Person can be heard saying “hello” but not engaging. Calling them back

7.40pm - Caller reporting on teenagers on motorbikes have been driving on his driveway and garden in Hampton Hargate, Peterborough. They are also letting off fireworks. 

7.42pm - Report of a burglary in Milton. The suspect was reported to have broken in and stole £150  

7.43pm - Silent 999 call

7.43pm - Caller reporting seeing a person getting attacked and their scooter stolen yesterday

7.47pm - Another silent 999 call. No one asked for police and no distress heard. 

7.48pm - Report of a broken down car on the A11, near Great Wilbraham

8.01pm - Third party report of a break in at an MOT garage

8.11pm - Youths have set fireworks off in caller’s garden. A bush has caught fire

8.14pm - Reports that a group of kids have set a play house alight in a park in Peterborough

8.17pm - Caller reporting concerns for her elderly neighbour who she believes might be being financially exploited

8.19pm - Caller reporting someone letting fireworks off in Whittlesey, aiming them at the road

8.22pm - Taxi driver concerned about a possible break in at a doctors surgery in Cambridge
