Jail for man who sent sexual video to teenage girl

A man who phoned a 13-year-old girl and sent her a sexual video of himself has been jailed.

Andrew Murray, 31, was believed to have been calling random numbers and engaging in unsolicited sexual calls to people.

However, when he called the victim on 7 October, she recorded the call and told her mum who then called police.

The recording provided enough evidence to arrest Murray after he was clearly heard asking her age before sending the video of him performing a sexual act.

It was discovered Murray’s actions had also breached a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).

Murray, of St Bedes Crescent, Cambridge, admitted causing a child aged 13 to 15 to view an image of sexual activity and three counts of breaching a SHPO. He was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday to two years and six months in prison.

Detective Sergeant Andy Harding said: “The fact Murray ascertained the age of the child and continued to send the explicit video of himself, makes his actions all the more despicable.

“This event was traumatising for the teenager. Her swift actions were truly courageous and her calm, sensible reactions meant we could arrest Murray with proof of the encounter.”
