A drug dealer who led police on a high-speed pursuit before crashing into a tree has been jailed.
Martin Thompson, 36, was driving in High Road, Guyhirn, near March, when police signalled for him to pull over.
He ignored them and drove at 70mph through Wisbech St Mary, eventually reaching 85mph in a 40 zone.
Thompson tried to take a left turn but crashed into a large oak tree in Main Road, Wisbech, where he was arrested.
Police also found drugs paraphernalia in his car including cannabis, cocaine, scales, and cash.
Thompson, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs, driving whilst disqualified and without insurance at Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday (20 November).
He was sentenced to 16 months in prison and disqualified from driving for three years and six months.
Detective Constable Olivia Manton, who investigated, said: “Thompson’s driving was extremely dangerous. He clearly knew police would find evidence of his drug dealing if he stopped and was willing to take unacceptable risks to dodge justice.”
