A man who was carrying a knife when he stole alcohol from a shop has been jailed.
Nathan Thomas was captured on CCTV holding a knife as he walked into Sainsbury’s, in Mill Road, Cambridge, on the evening of 17 November.
The 34-year-old went over to the alcohol aisle and grabbed three bottles of wine. He dropped one and left the store with two.
Thomas was also seen on CCTV taking a bike from a garden in Mill Road on 2 December.
At Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday (26 June), Thomas, of Clara Rackham Street, was sentenced to a year in prison after previously pleading guilty to possession of a knife in a public place, theft, bike theft and possession of cannabis.
PC Samanthan Chapman, who investigated, said: “Shop theft and bike theft are ongoing priorities in Cambridge and we will continue to target people like Thomas and put them before the courts. We hope this sentence provides some respite to the people of Cambridge city.”
