A drink driver who was reported to be swerving across the road has been disqualified for 20 months.
Maria Blandford-Chelkowski, 35, also caused a lorry to brake heavily and was driving erratically on the evening of Thursday, 26 June.
A member of the public reported her to police who caught up with her in Brooks Road, Cambridge.
She blew 84 at the roadside, which is more than twice the legal limit of 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
Blandford-Chelkowski, of St Bedes Crescent, Cambridge, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (17 July). She was disqualified from driving and ordered to pay a fine of £556.
PC Scott Giles said: “Blandford- Chelkwoski got behind the wheel knowing she had been drinking.
“Thankfully, we were able to catch up with her and prevent her from driving any further.”
The force operates a dedicated, confidential hotline – 0800 032 0845 – which is available 24/7 and allows the reporting of those believed to be driving under the influence.
Information about drink driving, the law and the penalties, can be found on the force’s dedicated road safety information webpages.
