A prolific thief who stole more than £2000 of alcohol from Waitrose has been jailed for 20 weeks.
Ripoo Sharma stole bottles of champagne, whisky, and tequila from Waitrose in Trumpington, Cambridge, on Thursday 29 May.
He also stole four more bottles of champagne from Waitrose, in St Neots, on Tuesday 10 June. On this occasion, Sharma, 43, pushed security staff out of the way multiple times before they caught up with him and waited for officers to arrive.
Sharma, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop and assault by beating at Luton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (29 July) and was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison.
