I write in connection with your request for information received on 2nd January. I note you seek access to the following information:
- Please provide me with the following information under the Freedom of Information Act.
How many injuries from dog attacks of any breed have there been in your police force area in the calendar year of 2023 and 2024?
How many injuries from dog attacks from XL bullies have there been in your police force area in the calendar year of 2023 and 2024?
If it is not possible to provide some of the data requested, I would be grateful if you could provide whichever elements of this FOI request are eligible for release.
I am required by the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (The Act) to handle all requests in a manner that is blind to the identity of the requestor. Any information released in response to a request is regarded as being published and therefore, in the public domain without caveat.

The below table has figures from a search for injury dog attack crimes over the requested years for the following offences
008/21 - Owner or person in charge allowing dog to be dangerously out of control injuring any person or assistance dog
008/22 - Owner or person in charge allowing dog to enter a non-public place and injure any person
The data shows whether each mentioned ‘XL Bully’ or similar term in the MO summary fields. Please note this is not comprehensive data as even though the term isn’t mentioned it may in fact have related to xl bullies and it is also may be possible some where it was mentioned were false positives.
