I write in connection with your request for information received on 6th March. I note you seek access to the following information:
Under the Freedom of Information Act please supply the following:
The number of PACE beds requested between January 2024 and December 2024, broken down by month.
The number of PACE beds provided between January 2024 and December 2024, broken down by month.
Clarification Received
‘The number of PACE beds requested’ is I would like the number of beds requested under the Policing and Criminal Evidence Act Section 38, broken down by calendar month.
As I’m sure you’re aware PACE (or Section 38 beds) refers to the beds for children who are to be held in custody overnight, and that under the PACE Act they should be found local authority accommodation rather than keeping them in the police station overnight.
I hope that clarifies things for you.
