We are also targeting known active cycle thieves – the results of which we regularly publish (one male was arrested 3 times in 4 days earlier in 2025) and we use civil orders to reduce the ability of offenders to continue their criminality (one male recently given a 12month custodial sentence and a 5-year CBO to not be in possession of any cycle without proof of ownership).
We also work closely with partners such as Council CCTV, local businesses and are involved with the Community Safety Partnership to target harden cycle storage and facilities where cycles are left by members of the public.
We have volunteers who review all cycle crime reports to check the viability of CCTV at the offence location. Where there are further lines of enquiry these reports are allocated to officers to progress.
