Request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Ref No: FOI2024/05879
I write in connection with your request for information received on 22nd August. I note you seek access to the following information:
The [email protected] email of Fri, 16 Aug at 14:02 states:
" Here's a quick reminder of how to use your e-scooter safely and legally:
E-scooters are classed as motor vehicles which means to be able to use your own one, you need a licence, insurance and tax.
If you don't have the correct licence or are riding without insurance you could land yourself a fixed penalty notice."
1) I would like to know how many such fixed penalty notices have been issued in the City of Cambridge in 2024, along with annual figures for 2023 and 2022.
2) Unless my understanding is wrong, private e-scooters are not legal on UK roads. How many have been seized in the City of Cambridge by police in 2024, along with annual figures for 2023 and 2022?
3) On a related 2-wheel vehicle theme, how many penalty notices or prosecutions have there been in the City of Cambridge for riding a bicycle without proper lights in 2024, along with annual figures for 2023 and 2022?
I am required by the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (The Act) to handle all requests in a manner that is blind to the identity of the requestor. Any information released in response to a request is regarded as being published and therefore, in the public domain without caveat.
