E-Scooter Prosecutions and Seizures

Request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 Ref No: FOI2024/07524

I write in connection with your request for information received on 28th October.  I note you seek access to the following information:

Please advise me of the following :

1. How many people have been prosecuted this year for riding illegal e-scooters in a. the Cambridgeshire constabulary district?
b. If possible in St Neots?

2. How many illegal e-scooters have been confiscated in a. the Cambridgeshire constabulary district this year ?
b. If possible in St Neots?

I am required by the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (The Act) to handle all requests in a manner that is blind to the identity of the requestor. Any information released in response to a request is regarded as being published and therefore, in the public domain without caveat.

Response - Following enquiries with Cambridgeshire Constabulary please see our response below.

  1. There are no specific offences for e-scooters and our system does not record vehicle type so we are unable to provide this information.
  2. We can only give indicative figures from a search looking for incidents that mention e scooters and s165 seizures, this shows 7 seized in Cambridgeshire over 2024, in Sawtry, Fletton and Woodston, Coleridge, St. Ives East and 3 from Cambridge City Market ward. So, none that show for St. Neots.
