Molly Halksworth first got into policing as Special in 2019 while still at university but then became a regular after graduating in 2020.
She gained detective status in Mat last year and has worked in the force’s Child Abuse Investigation and Safeguarding Unit (CAISU) since September 2023.
“The role of a detective is challenging and rewarding. It is more than completing enquiries as people sometimes think; it’s about being open minded and thinking of different ways to achieve what you need. I always continue to find weird and wonderful ways of gathering evidence to support convictions.
“Carrying a workload can be daunting and overwhelming at times. But with that responsibility comes great reward. We see our investigations throughout the process which allows us to really make a difference to people and our communities.
“My favourite part of investigations is protecting the vulnerable. Working with children is rewarding as they are the most vulnerable in society, but it is not all sad in our team.
“We work with lots of resilient children and lots of professionals and they can bring light, preventing it from being a dark role. We also have an amazing team of people, who support each other and work really hard, but we also have a good team spirit inside and outside of work.”
