Clive is a Student Engagement and Recruitment Officer for the University of Bedfordshire. This involves going to schools and colleges and speaking about university.
He is an acting Special sergeant based at Thorpe Wood Police Station and has been a Special since 2020.
"I became a Special because a career in the police was something I had wanted for as long as I could remember. I also grew up in an area where it was full of criminal activity, and I wanted to give something back to help the community. I have a great job, which I enjoy, and being a Special gives me the opportunity to do something different alongside my job.
Fitting in the specials has been hard as I work five days a week, but I do put in at least one shift a week, either on weekends or when I am off.
What I enjoy about being a Special is that I get to support the full-time officers when budgets are hard, but also support in the local community.
If you want to give back to your community or if you are interested in joining the force as a regular, this is a great opportunity for you to get involved and get some experience."
