We’re working hard to tackle anti-social, predatory and violent behaviour across the county through enforcing various orders, issuing warnings which impose conditions on individuals and increasing our patrols, however there are measures you can take to increase your safety when on a night out.
Spiking is giving someone alcohol or drugs without them knowing or agreeing. For example, in their drink or with a needle. It can happen to anyone anywhere – no matter their age, gender, sexuality or ethnicity. It can be carried out by strangers or by people you know.
Ask for Angela is a national campaign in place in bars, clubs and other licensed businesses across the UK. If you are feeling safe whilst you’re out, head to the bar or to a member of staff and simply ask for ‘Angela’. They will know what to do and will help you get to a safe space, will call you a taxi, or help you out discreetly. There will be posters in the venues who are supporting this initiative.
