Police Link Officer for Deaf people (PLOD) is a scheme that promotes equal access to the police for people in Cambridgeshire who sign in BSL.
When you contact Cambridgeshire Constabulary, you can ask for a Police Link Officer for Deaf people (PLOD). PLOD officers act as a contact point for the public, staff and officers in the force who have or may have contact with deaf people who sign.
The scheme includes volunteer police officers, PCSOs and staff members from across the force who have learned BSL up to Level 2. For any formal work such as statements and custody purposes, we will still use a language service professional.
BSL signers can use 999BSL for emergencies and we have access to the SignVideo app for other circumstances.
