The Corporate Communications department manages engagement with the public by informing and educating our communities, partners and workforce.
Media and communications
Our communications specialists manage media relations, internal communications and campaign planning.
The team promote the work of the police force and engage with local communities by campaigning and releasing information via local media, social media and the news available on this website.
Communicating investigations
Corporate Communications often become involved with criminal investigations, by issuing public appeals for information relating to both small and large scale cases. From theft and binge drinking to murders and missing children, our communications team is always on hand to help officers and making public appeals for helping to solve crime.
TV and radio
Communications are responsible for internal communications across the force. We also provide social and traditional media training to officers and staff, including how to deal with TV and radio interviews.
Campaigns
Crime prevention and awareness is the main aim for most of the campaigns the team plan and manage. Throughout the year, the team handle various campaigns, including drink and drug drive awareness, rape and serious sexual assault and modern slavery.
Media handling
Corporate Communications liaise with the media and partner agencies, such as local authorities and other emergency services.
Members of the public wishing to query information released by the team should raise concerns with the officer handling the incident/investigation by calling 101.
Contact Corporate Communications
The team operate Monday to Friday from 8am to 4.30pm for all media enquiries. Outside of these hours, a communications officer is on-call 24/7 to manage major and critical incidents.
The media are aware of our availability, yet are kindly reminded that queries relating to minor, non-urgent issues should only be raised during normal office working hours.
