A burglar has found himself on the naughty list after breaking into a St Neots home during the festive season.
Matthew Curtis, 40, smashed glass on a door to break into the property between 24 December and 1 January.
He stole copper piping worth up to £700 and caused £1000 of damage.
While in the area he attempted to break into a neighbouring home, causing £2,500 worth of damage in the process.
Officers attended the scene and Curtis’ DNA was discovered at the first property.
Curtis, of Pendragon Hill, Papworth Everard, admitted burglary and attempted burglary.
Yesterday (5 March) at Cambridge Crown Court he was jailed for 18 months.
DC Zoe Bramley said: “I’m pleased Curtis was identified thanks to the work of our specially trained officers and has now faced justice.
“Burglary can have a long-lasting impact on victims, as well as the short-term inconvenience and cost associated with the crime.
“We’re working hard to bring burglars before the courts as part of our ongoing efforts to make Cambridgeshire an even safer place to live.”
