A man who stole his partner’s bank cards and then tried to use one of them at a hotel has been jailed.
Christopher Syrett, 47, was arrested by officers at the Travelodge, in Orchard Park, Cambridge, at just after midnight on 28 August last year.
His partner had called police earlier saying he had stolen her bank cards from her home in Cottenham.
Syrett had tried to pay for a room at the Travelodge using one of the stolen bank cards but it was declined.
On Friday (17 January), at Huntingdon Law Courts, Syrett, of no fixed address, was jailed for two months, having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to theft and fraud.
DC Maria Cale said: “Syrett stole the bank cards from his partner and tried to pay for a hotel room with them.
“He shamelessly took advantage of the victim so I’m glad he’s been jailed.”
