A man has been jailed for more than two years after he headbutted and strangled his partner on Boxing Day.
Adrian Fox, 48, and the victim were at their home when an argument broke out on the morning of 26 December.
It continued throughout the day until, at just before 6pm, Fox launched a violent attack.
He began strangling the victim while she sat on the sofa, before slapping her in the face, headbutting her, and dragging her across the floor by her hair.
The victim begged Fox to call an ambulance, but he refused, leaving her hiding in the bathroom.
A neighbour called the police after hearing a disturbance and Fox was found hiding in a caravan nearby.
On Wednesday, 29 January, at Peterborough Crown Court, Fox, of Grove Lane, Hemingford Grey, near Huntingdon, pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation and actual bodily harm and was sentenced to two years and one month imprisonment.
DC Teija Leigh, who investigated, said: “This was a terrifying attack, which will no doubt have a lasting psychological impact on the victim.
“We do not tolerate domestic abuse and will do everything we can to hold perpetrators to account.
“If you are a victim or know someone who is, or has been, affected by domestic abuse, please get in touch.”
Victims of domestic abuse are urged to contact police or call the National Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247.
