A drink driver has been banned from driving for four years after he was spotted driving erratically in St Neots.
Members of the public called police at lunch time on 13 December to report a white Mini Cooper swerving across the lanes on the A1 near St Neots.
Police tracked the vehicle down in a car park in Great North Road, St Neots, and found Christopher White sat in the driver’s seat.
White, 41, of Sawpit Lane, Hamerton, Huntingdon, provided a roadside breath test of 131 microgrammes, more than three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.
He failed to provide an evidential sample in custody.
At Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on 22 January, White pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis and was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for a year. He must also undergo 120 days alcohol abstinence monitoring and has been disqualified from driving for four years.
PC Nimakoh, who investigated, said: “This is not the first time White has been caught behind the wheel drink driving. He has demonstrated that his pattern of behaviour hasn’t changed which is why he has narrowly missed a prison sentence.”
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspected drink or drug driving via a 24/7 hotline on 0800 032 0845.
