Emergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway at Ellington at about 5.45pm on Sunday (26 January) after a white Kia Sportage and black Volkswagen Passat CC collided. The collision is believed to have caused by a detached lorry tyre.
The driver of the Sportage, a 35-year-old man from the Cambridge area, and an 11-year-old girl who was a passenger, were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, with serious injuries.
The driver of the Passat, a 52-year-old man from Exmouth, Devon, was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital, in Huntingdon, with minor injuries.
Anyone with information and saw, or has dashcam footage, of the moments leading up to the collision, especially anyone who witnessed the lorry tyre detaching, should report it through the force website using reference CC-26012025-0345.
Anyone without internet access should call 101.
