A thief who stole Pokemon cards, alcohol and bathroom taps from shops across Huntingdonshire has been jailed.
On 7 January, Matthew Douglas took the children’s collectable cards from Ash’s Shop in Fenstanton and the bathroom taps from B&Q in Huntingdon.
The 35-year-old then stole alcohol from Marks and Spencer in Huntingdon on 21 January and perfume from John Lewis in Cambridge the next day worth more than £1,000.
On 6 February he also stole alcohol from Waitrose in St Ives.
Douglas also breached his five-year Criminal Behaviour Order which was issued in December 2022 not to enter any HBAC shop in Huntingdonshire.
At Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Monday (10 February), Douglas, of Crest Drive, Fenstanton, was sentenced to 64 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of theft, breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order and attempted theft.
PC Steven Sheath, who investigated, said: “Douglas is a prolific offender with a history of shop theft. This sentence will give businesses affected by his behaviour some respite and we hope the support Douglas needs to stop re-offending.”
