Plane crash in Ahmedabad
The UK is working with local authorities in India to urgently establish the facts and provide support to those involved.
A thief who stole 12 pairs of designer sunglasses has been jailed.
Joshua Clemmet, of St Johns Street, Bedford, took the sunglasses, worth more than £2,800 from David Clulow opticians, in Sidney Street, Cambridge, on 18 and 21 April.
The 32-year-old, also stole sports powder from Holland & Barrett, in Sidney Street, on 20 April and beer and meat from Co-Op, in Mill Road, on 6 and 25 April.
He was arrested after being identified on CCTV.
At Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (26 April), Clemmet pleaded guilty to five counts of shop lifting and was sentenced to six months in prison.
PC Luke Upcott, from the Spree Offender Team, said: “Spree offenders like Clemmet who bring misery to our towns and cities remain a priority for us. We know shoplifting can drive up prices, threaten jobs and force businesses to close their doors so it will remain a priority for us to put people like Clemmet before the courts.”
