A wanted Cambridge shoplifted has been sentenced.
Neighbourhood officers were on patrol in Barnwell Road when they spotted Callum Fenton who they knew was wanted by the courts for failing to appear.
Fenton, 31, of Peverel Road, was arrested and at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday (6 September) he was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months.
He pleaded guilty to six counts of shoplifting between 4 May and 24 June where he stole items including alcohol and laundry detergent from Co-Op in Perne Road, the BP garage in Newmarket Road and Sainsbury’s in St Andrew’s Street.
PC Mahir Ahmed, who investigated, said: “Thanks to our eagle-eyed neighbourhood officers, Fenton has now appeared in court and been sentenced for a number of thefts.
“Shoplifting is a priority in Cambridge and we will continue to put those responsible before the courts.”
