A driver who crashed into traffic lights in Cambridge has been disqualified.
Police were on patrol in an unmarked car on the evening of 27 November last year when they spotted a grey BMW driving the wrong way down a Cambridge street.
The vehicle made off from officers and shortly after crashed into a set of traffic lights on Carlton Way.
Luke Roberts, 41, of Beverley Road, Norwich, ran from the vehicle when police arrived. He was arrested after a short foot chase but refused to provide a sample of breath.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court today (11 September), Roberts was disqualified from driving for a year after pleading guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis. He must also pay a £200 fine.
PC Sarah Pride said: “Drink and drug driving puts road users at risk and we will not tolerate it in our county.”
Drink and drug driving can be reported 24/7 on 0800 032 0845.
