A man who threw his partner to the ground and kicked her in the head has been jailed.
Benjamin Plummer, 39, was seen assaulting the woman on Parker’s Piece, in Cambridge, by two witnesses in August.
Police tracked Plummer down in a nearby bus shelter and arrested him, but he became abusive and spat at officers.
Officers checked CCTV footage and were able to identify the victim as Plummer’s partner.
Plummer, of Fen Road, Milton, Cambridge, later pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault of an emergency worker.
He was sentenced to one year and 39 weeks in prison at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (27 September).
Detective Constable Jasmine Rouse, who investigated, said: “Plummer is clearly violent and abusive, with little remorse for his actions.
“I am glad justice has been done today and he is now behind bars.”
