A man who headbutted his victim in a drunken fit of rage has been jailed.
David Gladwin, 62, assaulted the man in Fisher Square, Cambridge city centre, at about 2.20pm on Monday, 24 April, 2023.
The pair had spoken briefly before the victim walked away and was talking to others when Gladwin headbutted him.
The victim was left unconscious and with a cut to the head.
He was taken to hospital and Gladwin was arrested nearby.
On Friday (1 November), at Cambridge Crown Court, Gladwin, of East Road, Cambridge, was jailed for 15 weeks, having pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm at an earlier hearing.
DC Deborah Vyse said: “This was a vile assault which could have had far-reaching consequences. People should be able to go to town and city centres without the risk of seeing this type of violence.”
