A man who violently assaulted his girlfriend has been jailed.
Aaron Diiuorio, 34, began assaulting the victim at a property in Howell Drive, Sapley, Huntingdon, at about 3am on Monday, 15 April.
Officers were called by a neighbour who had heard a commotion.
They arrived at the property and Diiuorio refused them entry, but they sprayed him with PAVA and got inside.
Diiuorio tried to escape out a window, but he was restrained and arrested.
The victim told officers she “got hit all the time”, and they noticed some marks on her neck as well as bruises on her arm.
On Monday (11 November), at Cambridge Crown Court, Diiuorio, of Hurstingstone, St Ives, was jailed for three months having pleaded guilty to common assault.
DC Steve Surtees said: “Diiuorio’s behaviour towards his girlfriend was vile so I’m glad he’s been jailed.
“Tackling domestic abuse is a force priority and we will do all we can to help put offenders behind bars.”
