A man has lost his licence after officers pulled him over for his anti-social driving.
Jack Goldstraw, 35, of Crosshall Road, Eaton Ford, was excessively revving the engine of his black Mercedes on the evening of 27 March and was also seen to wheel spin, generating thick white smoke from the tyres.
Officers stopped him in Paddock Close, St Neots, and he provided a roadside breath test of 98, almost three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.
He went on to give an evidential reading of 74 in custody.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (2 May), Goldstraw was disqualified from driving for 17 months after pleading guilty to drink driving. He must also pay a £88 fine.
PC Matthew Brocklebank, who investigated, said: “It was the anti-social manner of Goldstraw’s driving that drew attention to himself.
“There is no excuse for drinking and driving and I hope this lengthy ban will make him, and others, think twice before getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol.”
