Man arrested following discovery of Alconbury Weston cannabis factory

A man has been arrested following the discovery of a cannabis factory in Alconbury Weston.

Acting on information received from members of the public around a constant smell of cannabis, covered windows and a persistent humming noise, officers visited a home in Tanglewood yesterday (8 May) afternoon.

Inside they found cannabis being grown in four rooms and a man hiding in the loft.

The 33-year-old man, from Alconbury Weston, has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He remains in custody.

PC Chester Lewis, from the Huntingdon Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Thanks to information from the community, this illegal drug will no longer reach the streets.

“Drug trafficking is a source of revenue for organised crime groups, many of whom are involved in other forms of serious crime and modern-day slavery.

“We encourage people to look out for signs of illegal cannabis factories including blacked out windows, unusual smells and people coming and going at various times of the day.”
