A man dealing cannabis in Cambridge has been jailed following a routine police stop.
Officers were on patrol in St Luke’s Street on 19 January when they stopped a black Skoda Fabia.
They discovered that the driver, 27-year-old Aleks Boboci, was not insured and had no valid UK driving licence.
In Boboci’s jacket officers discovered £1,710 in cash and in the back of the vehicle two bags of cannabis.
At Cambridge Crown Court yesterday (5 March), Boboci, of Bourges Boulevard, Peterborough, was sentenced to two years in prison having pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis, production of cannabis, possession of criminal property, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.
Detective Constable Alex Galan-Tarachiu, who investigated said: “Tackling drugs is a priority for the force as not only does it often attract significant violence but causes misery to our communities in the form of anti-social behaviour.”
Anyone with information or concerns about drugs can report to police online via the dedicated drugs information page.
