A Cambridge thief has landed himself a prison sentence after returning to crime the day after he’s spared jail.
Robert Muttock was handed a six-month sentence, suspended for 18 months, on 28 February, after pleading guilty to theft, burglary, criminal damage and common assault.
The 31-year-old, of no fixed address, left the court and the following day stole food and drink worth more than £50 from the Co-Op in Milton Road.
He went on to take further items worth £43 from the Co-Op in Hills Road on 2 March.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court yesterday (26 March), Muttock, was sentenced to seven months in prison after activating his previous suspended sentence and pleading guilty to both thefts, as well as the theft of clothes worth £150 from H&M in Cambridge on 20 February.
Sergeant Dan Scott, from the Spree Offending Team, said: “We will continue to pursue those who repeatedly target businesses in Cambridge and cause misery to those working in the retail industry.”
