A burglar who went on a rampage across St Ives has been jailed.
Terry Lewis first forced the doors of the Salvation Army store in Mill Road, Cambridge, on 21 April at about 9.45pm.
He then travelled to St Ives where in less than 20 minutes he smashed his way into The Snug, Guinot and St Ives Wellness Centre in Free Church Passage.
The 48-year-old stole just £60 but left behind his DNA and was captured on CCTV.
Police identified Lewis and he was arrested the following day in Cambridge where he kicked one of the police vehicles and broke the driver’s side indicator.
At Cambridge Crown Court yesterday, Lewis, of Needingworth Road, St Ives, was sentenced to 16 months in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of burglary and one count of criminal damage.
Detective Sergeant Jon Lockwood, from the Southern Acquisitive Crime Team, said: “Lewis is a prolific, opportunist burglar who has caused misery to businesses across Cambridge and St Ives. We hope this sentence provides some respite to businesses affected by his offending and that Lewis himself takes the opportunities given to him to help stop his offending.”
