A house in Wisbech has been closed by police following concerns around drug dealing and associated anti-social behaviour (ASB).
The full closure order was served on 11 Duke Street on Monday (22 July) by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) following a successful application at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court.
The order, which is in place until 21 October, states that the property is closed to everyone, including the legal tenant, with the exception of employees of Clarion Housing Association, Cambridgeshire County Council, and the emergency services.
Failure to comply with the order is a criminal offence which could result in imprisonment for up to three months, a fine, or both.
PC Matt Smart, from Wisbech’s NPT, said: “We have been working to tackle the concerns around this address for some time, but further action had to be taken after issues were still occurring.
“I hope the closure shows the community we are listening to their concerns and will continue to take action such as applying for court orders when needed.
“While the order is in place, we will monitor the address to check for compliance and deal with any breaches.”
Anyone with information about the order being breached should contact police via the web chat service or online forms at https://www.cambs.police.uk/report.
Those without internet access should call 101.
