Chief Constable Nick Dean joined Police and Crime Commissioner Darryl Preston this morning to celebrate the work taking place in Milton at the site of the new police station.
The pair were joined by ITV Anglia, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Star Radio, Greatest Hits Radio and the Cambridge Independent who were keen to hear about the progress of the build.
Work officially began developing the site in January with preparatory works and site set up including the installation of a new access road and the creation of a car park and welfare area.
Now seven weeks into the development, work has begun on the foundations of the new SOCO building.
Chief Constable Dean said: “I visited the site this morning alongside the Police and Crime Commissioner to celebrate the progress of works to complete the foundations of the new police station in Milton.
“I know it’s been a long time coming for many of you who will be reading this, it’s been talked about for a huge number of years but we’re now on site, we’ve started the construction and hopefully by the end of 2025 we will have a brand-new facility here in Cambridgeshire.”
The new station will provide a modern, sustainable workspace that will make the working lives of officers and staff better.
It will also help the force meet the needs of the ever-growing population, enable the force to respond to calls for service more efficiently and better respond to the challenges of modern-day policing.
