A Cambridge driver who admitted drinking ‘more than I should’ has been disqualified for 23 months.
Officers were on patrol in the early hours of 25 March when they spotted Alex Corrigan appearing to be speeding in his Audi A4.
The 41-year-old of Chalfont Close, Cambridge, was stopped on High Street, Cherry Hinton and admitted to drinking ‘more than I should’ before blowing 120 at the roadside, more than three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.
He went on to provide an evidential reading of 91 in custody.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court today (18 April), Corrigan, was disqualified from driving for 23 months and fined £807 after pleading guilty to drink driving.
PC Timothy Everett, who investigated, said: “Corrigan drew attention to himself with his manner of driving. He was significantly over the limit and it was lucky he didn’t harm any other road users, or himself. There is no excuse for drink driving and we urge anyone who knows a drink driver to report it to us.”
