A thief who stole two charity boxes and a tips jar has been jailed.
Thomas Smith, 49, of Queensway, Cambridge, was captured on CCTV taking the two charity boxes from a shop on Cherry Hinton Road on 31 August and hiding them in his jacket.
He was also caught on CCTV breaking into a café in Trumpington Street on 16 September and stealing a tip jar containing around £20.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court yesterday (26 September) Smith pleaded guilty to burglary, theft from a shop, criminal damage and possession of cannabis and cocaine. He was sentenced to three months in prison and must pay £900 in compensation.
