A prolific Cambridge criminal has been jailed.
Robert Payne was arrested on 12 September after being identified on CCTV trying to open car doors in Neal Drive on 11 June.
He was also captured on CCTV stealing £56 from a vehicle in Woodhead Drive.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on 3 October Payne, 37, of East Road, was sentenced to 21 weeks in prison after pleading guilty to vehicle interference and theft from a motor vehicle. He also breached a suspended sentence.
PC Alex Thake, who investigated, said: “Payne is a prolific criminal with a multitude of previous convictions. He clearly shows a complete disregard for the laws imposed on him. We hope this latest prison sentence will encourage him to get the support he needs to live a crime free life.”
