Teenage boy admits stabbing Jesse Nwokejiobi

A teenage boy has admitted stabbing 17-year-old Jesse Nwokejiobi in a Cambridge park last year.

Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing at Logan’s Meadow on the afternoon of 19 November.

Ambulance carried out CPR and open-heart surgery on the victim, Jesse, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 2.56pm.

A four-week trial was due to start at Huntingdon Law Courts on Monday but yesterday (5 July) a 17-year-old boy from London, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Today, a second 17-year-old boy from London, who also can’t be named, pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and affray.

James Heath, 45, from Harston, also appeared in court and pleaded guilty to assisting an offender. He had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

The court offered no evidence against Helen Heath, 37, from Harston, who was due on trial for the same charges.

They will be sentenced on 1 September.

Detective Chief Inspector Iain Moor, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “I hope these admissions in court over the past two days will provide some closure to Jesse’s family.

“Our thoughts are with Jesse’s family at this difficult time.”
