A woman who claimed she ‘only had two drinks’ has lost her licence for a year.
Siobhan McCabe was spotted swerving across the road in her black Peugeot 108 on Brook Street, St Neots on 9 December.
The 34-year-old was pulled over by officers and blew 56 at the roadside, over the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath. She went on to give an evidential reading of 48 in custody.
PC Katy Robinson, who investigated, said: “McCabe had told officers she was the driver for the evening and she thought two drinks wouldn’t put her over the limit.
“We strongly urge those who chose to drive do not even chance one drink. As a result of her actions, McCabe has now lost her licence.”
At Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (13 December), McCabe pleaded guilty to drink driving and was disqualified from driving for a year and fined £316.
The force operates a dedicated, confidential hotline, 0800 032 0845, which is available 24/7 and provides the public with the chance to provide information about anyone they think may be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
