A man who broke into Cambridge businesses has been jailed for more than a year.
Joe Ross, 33, of Hawkins Road, Cambridge, broke into Sam Ping Supermarket and Indian Mini Market in Cherry Hinton Road at about 3.30am. He left with a few coins from the mini market.
On 24 September he set off an alarm at a building site in Topper Street and took a bag containing machinery worth £2,500.
Ross also took laundry products worth £100 from the Co-Op in Perne Road on 13 September.
He was caught on CCTV in all of the incidents and identified by police.
At Huntingdon Law Courts on Friday (8 December), Ross was sentenced to 13 months in prison after previously pleading guilty to one theft and three counts of burglary.
PC Craig Gallacher, who investigated, said: “These burglaries not only affect the businesses but also the local community. I hope this sentence is a firm reminder to anyone minded to commit crimes such as this that they are taken seriously by police and the courts.”
