A man who got behind the wheel after drinking half a bottle of whiskey has been banned from driving.
Police were on patrol in Cambridge on 22 December when they spotted Graham Rayner swerving across Scotsdowne Road in a silver Vauxhall Astra.
The 62-year-old reversed up a kerb and onto a front garden before being instructed to stop by the officers.
Rayner admitted drinking half a bottle of whiskey earlier in the day and blew 133 at the roadside, more than three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath. He went on to give an evidential reading of 106 in custody.
At Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (27 December), Rayner, of Queens Close, Harston, was disqualified from driving for two years and two months after pleading guilty to drink driving. He must also carry out 120 hours unpaid work.
PC George McCready said: “There is no excuse for drink driving, Rayner was putting himself and others at risk by getting behind the wheel.”
