A man has been charged with being in possession of a knife in Peterborough city centre.
The 42-year-old from Stamford was arrested in Wheel Yard at about 11.30pm last night (Monday 16 May) after CCTV operators spotted what they thought was a man carrying a knife.
He has since been charged with being in possession of a knife in a public place and will appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Wednesday 18 May).
Anyone with information about someone who carries a weapon is urged to report online here.
A ‘weapons amnesty’ is being held all week this week, allowing people to dispose of items safely and without fear of prosecution.
More information about the amnesty can be found here.
