A man who was caught drink driving less than two months after he lost his licence for the same offence has been jailed.
Stephen Best, 67, was stopped while driving his silver Peugeot 407 in Perne Road, Cambridge, at about 6.30pm on Friday (16 July).
Officers became suspicious due to a smell of alcohol and conducted a breath test.
This revealed he was over the limit, producing a reading of 50 ugs. It also transpired he was disqualified from driving until 2024 after losing his licence for a similar offence in May.
Best, of Vawser Way, Cambridge, pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving while disqualified.
He was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison and banned from driving for four years at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (17 July).
PC Steph Corletto said: "Best showed a complete disregard for the law and posed a risk to the public by choosing to continue driving while under the influence of alcohol. I am pleased the court has recognised this and hope the sentence gives him time to reflect on his behaviour."
