22 Sep 2021

A bike thief who claimed he was doing a favour for a friend has been sentenced.

Joshua Collinson-Prime, of Janet Jones Walk, Cambridge, was caught on CCTV removing a D lock from a bike in Trumpington Street on 12 November last year (2020).

In interview the 26-year-old told officers he’d been asked by a friend to retrieve the bike and forcibly remove the lock after the key had been lost.

Collinson-Prime pleaded guilty to bike theft at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on 15 September and was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months. He must also pay £210.95 in compensation.
